The Association of Cultural Associations of Karditsa was founded in 1985 and is the secondary organ of the Prefecture that "houses" the activity and operation of 220 Associations.

It organises the following two leading cultural events on an annual basis:
A) the Panhellenic Amateur Theatre Festival which takes place in the third ten days of March.
B) the International Cultural Festival Karaiskakeia, which takes place in the last ten days of June.

In more detail:
The Panhellenic Amateur Theatre Festival, which has already completed 38 years of existence, is a competitive event for amateur theatre companies from all over the country. The institution has been embraced and loved by the whole of Greece and this fact demonstrates the dynamics of the institution. The aim of the Festival is to foster osmosis with other companies, to cultivate theatrical education and to encourage amateur creation.

Karaiskakeia has been held for 55 years in honor of the great hero of the Greek Revolution Georgios Karaiskakis, who came from Mavrommati of Karditsa and has a special reference to popular culture, traditions, customs and traditions. They are an established institution in the consciousness of our people. They were established in 1927 by the decision of the Ministry of Interior No. 17566/24-4-1927. Since then, the respective Organizing Committees have been making continuous efforts to upgrade the institution, giving it a national, historical, cultural, spiritual and social dimension. These events include dances, songs and revival of customs by foreign and Greek dance groups of high level as well as by our local dance groups.

The main co-organizers of the Association (in recent years) are the Region of Thessaly - Regional Unit of Karditsa, the Municipality of Karditsa, the Regional Union of Municipalities of Thessaly (P.E.D.), the Chamber of Karditsa and the Holy Metropolis of Thessaliotis and Fanariofersalon.
