National Amateur Theatre Festival of Karditsa

FOR the cultivation of theatrical education and artistic sensibility

The main objective of the Panhellenic Amateur Theatre Festival of Karditsa is the creation of a cultural and artistic movement in the region, which is achieved by hosting amateur groups from Greece and Cyprus and the visit of renowned theatre and film personalities.

The Amateur Theatre Festival is one of the most renowned institutions and continues its brilliant course, raising more and more its quality, thus offering the most to the cultural events of our country.

Many companies have been hosted in our city during the 38 years of the Festival. People whose contribution to culture has been and still is important have been honoured.

Most of them visited our region, got to know the Festival and became our friends and ambassadors outside the borders of our Prefecture, while many others were honoured by the Festival for their contribution to theatre and culture in general.

Important, all these years, is the participation of many remarkable artists in the jury committees, which are set up every year within the framework of the Festival, which judge and award the prizes to the competing companies.

At the same time, during the event, events are organised by primary institutions with the aim of enriching the event at a theoretical and practical level. Events such as exhibitions of photographic material on theatre, an exhibition of theatre costumes, film tributes, seminars for teachers by the renowned members of the Jury, performances in the Kallikratis Municipalities and a separate section on children's theatre, shadow theatre and puppet theatre.

The Festival has a competitive character and will take part in 8 companies who will be selected by a Project Selection Committee.

The Jury Committee, composed of eminent personalities, will award a prize:
