Director

Biography

He was born in Rhodes and comes from Olympos on Karpathos. Since 1972 he lives permanently in Athens. He studied theatre, cinema and graphic arts. In 1987 he founded the Magic Theatre. In 1997 he founded the Helix Action Theatre. His performances have participated in many international festivals and European events in Great Britain, Poland, Bellarossa, France, Italy, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, India and China (31st Festival of Nations).

During the period 1991-1995 he was Director of the Municipal Regional Theatre of Rhodes. From 1997 to 2000 he worked as a director at the National Theatre of Greece. Collaborator of the Experimental Stage of Art in Thessaloniki and many Regional Theatres. Since 2009 he organizes the International Street Theatre Festival in Athens.

He has implemented the European Helidra project and the European Kaspar Machine project. He represented Greece at the Pan-European Nomadic University in the framework of the International Theatre Festival of Aurillac in France, held in 2008. In 2010 he participated as an invited guest at the Open Street International forum in Fermo, Italy. Artistic Director of Rhodes' candidacy for the European Capital of Culture 2021. Since 2015 he has been organizing the Valitsa Theatre Festival. He has directed works by Shakespeare, Ben Johnson, Christopher Marlowe, Molière, Carlo Goldoni, Anton Chekhov, F. García Lorca, Samuel Beckett, Beth Henley, Michel de Gelderod, Michael Frein, Yukio Mishima, Hugo Claus, Aristophanes, Aeschylus, Kazantzakis, Aristophanes, Aeschylus, and Kazantzakis, Theotokos, Zioga, Mateschi, Bost, Skourt, Kekhaidis, Mursela, Lyberakis, Efthymiadis, Doriadis, Montcelles, Hurmouzi, Christofi, etc.

He is a member of the Society of Greek Directors and the International Theatre Institute. The eight short stories in the collection "Night" are her first venture into prose writing. In 1995 the poetry collection "Mythos Narrative End" was published by "Dodoni" Publications. In 2022 the poetry collection "Lacrimosus" was published by "Otan" Publications.

From 2022 he started teaching Theatre Directing at the Department of Theatre Studies at the University of Athens.
