Events

With a concert and a 3-day conference dedicated to Georgios Karaiskakis and the 200 years of the Greek Revolution, this year's Karaiskakeia will be dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution, which due to the situation will not have the form of a multi-day festival as we are used to. The organizers, appreciating the situation that has developed due to the pandemic and the objective difficulties that exist in the movement of the bands, their hospitality and the conduct of the events, decided this year to organize a large concert and a conference dedicated to the main hero of the events - Georgios Karaiskakis - and integrated into the events that are taking place throughout Greece for the 200 years of the Greek Revolution.
On Monday 28 June the audience of Karditsa will have the opportunity to see the musical-poetic-narrative work of Paschalis Tonios "Ode to the heroes of 1821" based on poems by great foreign (philhellenes) and Greek poets inspired by the Revolution and the heroes of 1821. His work includes poems by. Korais, Lorenzo Mavilis, Dionysios Solomos and G.Souris.
The second part of the performance will include heroic and thieving songs that refer to the struggles of the Greeks, songs that are the culmination of a long evolution of the Greek people's popular poetic creation.
"As a Greek artist, I felt the need to create a musical work based on poems by great poets who praised the bravery of the Greeks, in this year of the 200th anniversary of the revolution, that moved and inspired other peoples", says the creator himself about his work and continues "these same poets played a very important role in the Greek Revolution with their spirit, they highlighted internationally its importance and its ideals, Freedom and Justice. The celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Revolution of 1821 is a major opportunity for knowledge and reflection, since the poems in the present volume refer to the European and international dimension of the Greek Revolution for Freedom, which shaped consciences and ideals that were catalytic for the progress of civilization, the harmonious and peaceful life and the prosperity of societies of people everywhere".
Performers of the show: Paschalis Tonios - singing, Mariana Polychronidi - singing and Grigoris Valentinos in narration. Also participating is a musical ensemble and a mixed choir. The event is organized by the Union of Cultural Associations of Karditsa Prefecture, the Region of Thessaly - Regional Unit of Karditsa and the Municipality of Karditsa with the support of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaliotis and Fanariofersalon.
